In 2004, Bristol bid to be the 2008 European Capital of Culture. Although it was unsuccessful, the city was awarded a substantial grant to fulfil as much of the promise of the original bid as possible. The flagship project emerging from this is Electric Pavilion, a digital showcase of creativity and innovation in Bristol. The platform has to showcase the work locally, nationally and internationally. Enable Interactive collaborated with graduate talent from Submerge and fine artist Luke Jerram to create a credible fusion of community, creativity and technology that will inspire people from all sectors of the local population to produce great new creative work.
"Enable Interactive, Submerge and Luke Jerram approached the brief with imagination and flair. Working with our production team here at Watershed, and other artists, the team explored different aspects of culture and creativity within the context of Bristol and sought to develop a strong platform that serves as an ‘iconic’ representation of the spirit of creativity that typifies Bristol’s cultural life. In both aspects, we feel that Enable and their partners succeeded admirably - creating both a unique and distinctive brand identity for Electric Pavilion, and a stylish and convincing representation of the city of Bristol as ‘re-imagined’ through its creativity."
